International Year of Astronomy

No date or author.

During the International Year of Astronomy it's really just a time to get more people hooked on looking in the sky's through telescopes. There are also parties held for everyone to look out in the sky and have fun with other people while they are doing it.

The reason that it is this date is because 400 years ago Galileon made his first discoveries with using a telescope. NASA is sponsoring it. There are over 100 countries participating in this event. The Galilean Nights are people made up of amateur and professional astronomers who are going to look at Galileans discoveries.

No date or author given.

In the article it tells the reader what exactly the Great World Wide Star count is and what it does for us. It also gives information about how many discoveries have been made during this event since it has begun.

This is about trying to get people to go outside and look in the sky. They look for constellations and then report them online. We should observe the cygnus constellations.

Last updated on 10-28-09.

This article gives details about the spacecrafts involved including the Appolo 17. It also tells you 5 of the most important facts about the Lunar Reconnaisance Orbiter. Finally, it gives information about how the Appolo 17 was had a great trip and got many good pictures.

I think that this was a great space trip for the Appolo 17. It was able to do exactly what NASA wanted and got the pictures that they needed. This will help them a lot for the trip to the moon and to help decide if it will be possible or not.

The Messenger Spacecraft

Last updated 9-30-09 no one author, information given by many scientists from throughout the U.S.A.

We are studying Mercury because it is one of the smallest planets, but one of the most dense so we want to answer many questions about its cores density. Scientists hope to learn why Mercury is so dense, what are the unusual materials at its poles, what's the structure of it's core, what's the nature of it's magnetic field, and what's it's geologic history.

I personally don't think that the U.S. government should not spend all this money studying other planets. Since the U.S. economy is not doing that well we should spend time improving our own country whether than trying to find out more stuff about the universe.

The equinox hoax is when people think that you can balance an egg straight up. People think that on the Autumnal equinox the forces of the solar are aligned and you can balance the egg because of it.
This is a hoax because it is not true and whoever started this rumor intended for it to be a prank for the people who actually believe it.

Another science hoax is the Great Moon Hoax. People believe that NASA didn't have the good enough technology to land on the moon in 1960 and made it in a studio to win the "Space Race".

Hubble Repairs

The title of the article is:
Hubble Opens New Eyes on the Universe

The URL of the article is: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/hubble/science/ero_images.html

The date and source is:
September 9, 2009 and the author is the Space Telescope Science Institute

The main idea of the of the article is the new updates of the Hubble. It also includes that the Hubble will be able to see much further then before. They also include some pictures so you can see how much better the images will be.

What they were fixing the whole time was the new imaging camera. NASA asturnauts where the people who did the repairs. My favorite picture is the one that has the picture of the gasses that are on fire and look like different objects.
